midwifery

As a midwife, I am passionate about supporting women and families throughout an exciting time in their lives. I also believe that there is a lot that we can do to improve health services. This is why I research. I want to see more women and families not only healthy, but also happy and exhilarated by their experiences.

Research

Currently, my research focus lies on natural pauses during childbirth, where I explore the value of such pauses for keeping mum and baby healthy. Additionally, I collaborate in research projects in the areas of midwifery education, health research equity, and maternity service design. I have strong ties to the midwifery community in Australia and Germany and collaborate closely with my research colleagues worldwide.

Teaching

Supporting midwifery students throughout their education is a matter close to my heart. I have been active in teaching in theory and practice in various roles since 2011. Currently, I support midwifery students in Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral Programs, as well as research students from other disciplines. Investing in midwifery students is an investment in every woman’s and child’s future.
