Midwifery
As a midwife, I am passionate about supporting women and families throughout an exciting time in their lives. I also believe that there is a lot that we can do to improve health services. This is why I research. I want to see more women and families not only healthy, but also happy and exhilarated by their experiences.
Research
Currently, my research focus lies on natural pauses during childbirth, where I explore the value of such pauses for keeping mum and baby healthy. Additionally, I collaborate in research projects in the areas of midwifery, nursing and allied health. While I am based in Western Australia, I have strong ties to the midwifery community in Germany, and to researchers across Europe.
Teaching
Supporting midwifery students throughout their education is a matter close to my heart. Previously, I have taught in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and worked as a head of midwifery school. Currently, I support research students. Investing in midwifery students is an investment in every woman's and child's future.
